Estrella
Labrador Retriever, Terriers (Medium),Meet Estrella! This 1-year-old Labrador Retriever-Terrier blend weighs 28 lbs. Estrella is as cute as a button and is looking for an active and fun-loving family!
- General Behavior: Estrella is a very sweet girl who loves her family with all of her heart! She can be wary of strangers but warms up quickly, especially when given rewards like fun toys or yummy treats. Estrella is a fairly quiet gal and can often be found snoozing by your feet or in your lap.
- Likes & Dislikes: Darling Estrella loves pets and belly rubs! Anything that gets her close to her human. She enjoys going for walks and does a little happy dance when she sees her leash.
- Training: This playful gal has good manners and has picked up quickly on basic commands like sit, lay down, and go potty. She is still working on her housetraining and being a little more polite on her walks. She gets quite rowdy when seeing new people and other dogs when out and about so her social skills are a work in progress.
- Medical: Estrella is a healthy pooch and just requires her monthly heartworm and flea preventative.
- Other Animals: Estrella prefers her humans to canine companions, so a home without other dogs would be ideal. A home with another dog that has developed social skills would be ok too. She has not been introduced to any cats.
- Children: Estrella interacts well with children of all ages and gives herself a break from them when needed. A home with kiddos would be just fine!
- Home: A single-family home or dog-friendly apartment living would be perfect for adorable Estrella. She will require an active family that can keep up with her young puppy energy, as well as continue to socialize her.
- Grooming: As a short-haired pup, Estrella will not require frequent trips to the groomer. She will need regular baths and nail trims, like any other dog.
- Overall: Estrella is a pro belly rub recipient who is sure to steal your heart! She is ready to find the perfect family who is always up for a game of fetch.
Are you the one for Estrella? Visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with her foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, spayed, and heartworm negative. Her adoption donation is $400
show lessFlash
Chihuahua, Dachshund,*Please note - Flash needs a foster home that lives in central Florida and is willing to pick him up from our vet in Chuluota. Of course, if you fall in love with him, you can adopt him. But we do not know anything about him since he has not been in a foster home so he will need someone patient and willing to give him some time to settle in.
Flash - Doxie-Chi blend boy, 8 months old and 8 lbs. He was adopted and then quickly returned because he did not like men with beards. The shelter tested him with men with beards, and he was fine! He is good with other dogs, women, and men. From our vet "Cool dog, very easy to handle". He especially liked the vet and gave him extra kisses. No follow-up visits are needed for him.

Iris
Pekingese, Shih Tzu,Calling all laps! This request comes straight from Iris, a sweet Pekingese/Shih Tzu blend who is about 2 years old and weighs 14 pounds.
- General Behavior: Iris has been described by her foster as laid back, chill and a TOTAL LAPDOG. She can be shy in new situations so it may take her time to become totally comfortable.
- Likes & Dislikes: If you have a comfortable lap, Iris will be your new best friend. As mentioned, she is a total lapdog and will be quite content relaxing with you throughout the day. She doesn’t seem to be big on toys, but that could always change. Iris does not like being confined to a crate.
- Training: Iris is great with housetraining when let out on a regular schedule. She has good basic manners. While she doesn’t pull on a leash, she is not leash trained and will need to work on mastering that skill.
- Medical: Iris is healthy and will only require her monthly heartworm and flea preventative.
- Other Animals: Iris has done well with dogs of various sizes and should be ok with cats (she ignored the cat in her foster home).
- Children: Iris has not been around young children so a home with respectable children over the age of 13 would be best for her.
- Home: Iris would be best suited in a single-family home with a securely fenced yard. She will look for gaps in the fence, so a secure fence is important for her safety. The fenced yard will also be a great place for her to play and work on her leash skills. Iris thinks she would be living her best life in a home where her new human companion is home more often than not. When she does need to be left alone, she has done fine being in a secure area of the home. After a day of lounging on your lap, Iris would love to continue getting her beauty rest in the “human bed” with her person.
- Grooming: As a Pekingese/Shih Tzu blend, Iris will need regular brushing as well as professional grooming approximately every 6-8 weeks. You should budget $65+ for her grooming.
- Overall: It has been said “Where flowers bloom, so does hope”. With patience and understanding, we know that Iris will bloom into a loyal and loving friend in her forever home.

Permanent Residents
Some of our dogs will stay in our care forever. Some have been through so much change and trauma in their lives that putting them through more change isn’t in their best interest, others may have medical needs or need hospice care – these dogs will remain in PPR foster care for the rest of their lives as Permanent Residents.
Apply To foster
When you become a foster parent, you are playing a significant role in our rescue program. When you invite a dog into your home, you provide the love, patience, and guidance to a little dog in need, and Poodle and Pooch Rescue provides the rest! We are responsible for all vetting, grooming, and medical needs the dog may have, all you have to do is treat the dog as if it’s your own. A typical fostering lasts 2 to 3 weeks, and you are never stuck with a dog. You choose the dogs you want to foster, and you are free to foster at your own convenience. If for whatever reason the dog you choose doesn’t fit into your lifestyle, we will simply place the dog into a new foster family. You get to enjoy the companionship of a dog without the lifelong commitment.
